Engage. Converse. Collaborate. Participate. Share.

Engage with other educators. Converse with those of similar interests. Collaborate with professionals around the world to strategize lessons and solve problems. Particpate in events and conversations. Share your ideas and thoughts with others.

Easy Ways to Develop your PLN:

 

  •  Join a professional social network.

  • Pick 5 blogs to read.

  • Become a part of the conversation. Comment on blogs and respond to other educators.

  • Set up a microblogging account.  Follow educators that have your same interests. (Twitter) Respond and retweet other professionals.

  • Attend conferences and professional developments.

  • Join pinterest follow education boards. Re-pin others pins

  • Read Edutopia or subscibe to Teaching Channel.

  • Listen to TED talks or watch video presentations.

  • Plan with your colleagues and other individuals in the school.

Who?

Think about who you would like to connect with. Which educators and organizations do you find interesting. Who do you share common interests and ideas with?

The Who, What, When, Where, & How of Creating a PLN?

Where?

Think about what medium you like best. Would you prefer connecting in person or on the web? Do you have a preference of social media platforms? Do you like blogging or microblogging?

When?

Think about when you would like to connect. When are conversations happening? Some twitter conversations happen at specific times others are ongoing. When are conferences and professional developments being held? Which works best with your schedule?

What?

Think about what you would like to recieve from your PLN. What topics are interesting to you? What do you want to learn? What are you interested in or what do you feel would be beneficial to your teaching? What do you need to enhance your teaching? What else can you expand on?

How?

Think about how you can do this? There are so many ways to expand your network. How can you become a connected educator?
